Hi ,

Please help

One of my hens has returned home with holes in neck and chest

Is there anything I should be dressing wounds with

Thanks in advance

If water is coming out the breast give it a good clean and stitch it up,then spray on some dry wound powder you can get Savlon Dry Antiseptic Spry from Boots.

Don't laugh at this before you try it for yourself, when I was a young lad and had the Pouters my good hen that won 32 tackles hit the wires and bust her crop open, took a great piece of skin off aswell couldn't stitch it so got a Durex and cut it right up the middle then cut it into a square stuck it on with super glue, six months later you would never have known that she had been injured, but she was never the same after that, she flew like a balloon.

im with greenlands dont wash em or put anything on them let them build a natural barrier but if you do feel the need to put something on them make sure its dry as germoline or vaseline will keep the wound moist which you dont want
