andy Burgess Posted March 12, 2013 Report Share Posted March 12, 2013 i have also plugged holes in the crop with vaseline .this was after a hen returned with 2 holes in the front ,and as she drank the water was coming straight out . wound repaired well ,and she was fine afterwards . greenlands Posted March 12, 2013 Report Share Posted March 12, 2013 If they don't require stitching I leave them to mend,stitching just do it and leave it,I never wash them or put any treatment on them.The blood will dry and make a barrier. harry h Posted March 12, 2013 Report Share Posted March 12, 2013 Don't laugh at this before you try it for yourself,when I was a young lad and had the Pouters my good hen that won 32 tackles hit the wires and bust her crop open,took a great piece of skin off aswell couldn't stitch it so got a Durex and cut it right up the middle then cut it into a square stuck it on with super glue, six months later you would never have known that she had been injured,but she was never the same after that, she flew like a balloon.
