PATTY BHOY Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 Young cocks been put in the nest box section 20 in total, and its mayhem. :crying:
Guest Owen Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 I am not a bit surprised. It is best to just leave them to sort it out but you need to make sure that no bird gets trapped in the box while being attacked by another. When I used to race widowhood I shut the cocks in their boxes because it stopped the fighting and bullying which ruined the birds for racing. These days the birds are in there section from straight after the racing and they have a lot more boxes than they need.Owen
aye ready Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 split mine about a week ago pat from the young bird loft into the main racing loft went down in the grey dark to shut up lofts and found up to 3 young cocks all sitting on the one box, they're not long settling down and they've all got their own box now with boxes to spare

RyanDavidson Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 happy new yr patty,,my young birds all took there own box had all started to pair up so a split them in october ..av got 13 cocks n 13 hens to race,, av gave the cocks couple short tosses recently and been letting hens in with them for 10 mins before a basket them and they get 15min together wen they are back, it ends up looking like av got 26 cocks as the hens are just as exicted as the cocks.
DJWa Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 I`ll have 4 boxes spare once they pick their own Martin. i would shut up 4 of the bottom boxesand if a cock tries to claim 2 boxes shut his box and open one of the bottom ones jmo dave
