Guest maricelbill
van der veeken. very mixed reports on these pigeons. yet there appears to be a waiting list and cost big money. they must be doing something somewhere to justify that. supposedly owned and raced one of the best pigeons ever. Olieman. There's the connection to the gust janssens and by extension to the herman ceusters. it maybe that which is causing a demand. any thoughts here from our panel of experts. and regular guests of course. http://schaerlaeckens.mikehopman.nl/pages/leesartikel.php?id=
Wiley
If were talking about Olieman, were talking ancient history. P & J Boal supposedly have these birds and they fly a very good pigeon. The Olieman was actually a Van Hove pigeon Bill. They also seem to play a part in the family of Roland Janssens
just ask me
oileman 019 etc way to far back to be worrying about nice to read ok very few big winners today in belg even have Jansen birds in there peds anymore apart from eijerkkamp and a handful of others agree with wiley history jos birds are sought after in belg today as he still puts up good performances if his performances had of drooped after the oileman results there would be very few knocking on his door today few studs etc have tried them here so there would have been plenty about they seem to do well in places like Romania eastern europe etc i dont know the boal family but they seem to update there lofts with up to date winners every few year with the van herks and tilbourg pigeons as most good flyers do i think they have introuced the herman birds too but may be wrong on that

Guest maricelbill
both leo hermans and herman ceusters. the van der veekens also a big part of their van herck pigeons. some fanciers seem pretty disappointed in the van der veekens. i know gerard delaney bought a round of eggs and would naturally enough praise them. glencameron
Jos Van Der Veken as mentioned was at the top in the 1970’s and remains so to this day. Perhaps as he concentrates upon the lower middle distances he is not so well known. Also he competes in the Hafo Kempen and not the ZAV/Antwerp Union or Hafo Turnhout so is less publicised. Also the Hafo Kempen typically does not liberate at the same time as the aforementioned Unions but when they do say in the Orleans Province race he is always near the top. August Jansen’s contain a lot of Veken’s mainly through the Goede Kweker 228-96 but Veken bloodlines well represented in Gust Jansen pigeons - at the heart of the base are 2 daughters of a brother of Olieman It is a little unfair to talk of pigeon lore and the Olieman and indeed lore of Jos Van de Veeken himself. The Olieman lines were in the pedigree of Finneke 5000. Also Jos is certainly not yesterdays man. In the Hafo Kempen 19/05 this year from 2240 pigeons he had the fastest 13. (combining both the yearlings and old bird results). The first 8 in the yearlings and first 5 in the old birds.
