Guest darren cantrill Posted July 10, 2012 Report Posted July 10, 2012 hi bit of advice please been training twice a day 1 short chuck 6 miles 1 longer chuck 20 miles birds have had 50 plus chucks in total all weathers apart from really nasty stuff past few days been leaving the maize especially the big plate maize im using marrimans vari mix and a third barley feeding quite tight 32 grammes a bird aint had this b4 when i raced well i didnt notice it any ideas???

I leave it until its eaten before putting any more feeding down.You might want to try them on 28g each and see if they still leave it. atb

I leave it until its eaten before putting any more feeding down.You might want to try them on 28g each and see if they still leave it. atb thanks john its why i like this site more than any other good quick advice i never used to feed maize myself and this year has been about experimenting. when the birds were running i was feeding 28 grammes i stepped it up slightly as they had started going training and im thinking maybe that decision a month ago was wrong though they have only just been leaving the maize the past few days i had to stop training for 5 days last week because of the weather and seems to be no bounce at the moment though im trying to stop them peeking till end of next week our first race though they are coming quite well the 1s that are late are always late though they have pulled onto the right line past few days just seems something amiss if you get my meaning and i cant quite put my finger on it
