hi all i have been into pigeon racing now for 2 years but only still learning. last week we flew 323 miles from lillers and next week i am looking to send some to claremont 400 miles to me. i didnt do too bad from lillers picking up 2nd and 3rd club but still about 20 minutes behind the fed winners. was wondering if i should be feeding the same for 400 miles.

could be your loft position as the fed winners most of the time will be where the wind favors that day

thanks just ask me just worried i let them down with the feeding its only my second ob season and have loved and looked after last years youngbirds like they my own kids and dont want to let them down by underfeeding them. i think 3 of them have the heart to make it 400 miles. i sent 21 of my yearlings to lillers 323 miles and got 14 within the first hour and a half. another 5 where in 4 hours later 2 next morning, 1 today and 1 still missing.

do you think my feed will have been good enough to get them home from 400 miles

well its all down to the weather and the birds now. done my best for them sent 3 hens and 1 cock to clermont today 398 miles to me. was very happy with their fitness levels and they looked heathly with a full wing. unfortunatly one hen had to stay at home. after dropping 2 flights didnt want to risk her.

would like to say thanks to all the lovely comments and pm's that have been very beneficial on getting my birds to the best they have ever looked and flew.

hope i have some good news for you (and me) this weekend.

Well i am very happy with my result today. No combine position but i managed to get 2 out of 4 home on the day. Taking 2nd and 6th club. The weather was torrential rain on and off most of the day but from 4pm it never stopped. managed to clock in at 6.46pm and 8.52pm. Hope the other 2 managed to work in tomorrow in dryer conditions.
