More Beans/Peas Or Maize For Distance?

What is best coming up to a distance race..more protein [beans or peas], or carbs [maize]. We always used to think it was giving them more beans…but what’s the modern view on this?

i have my own view i feed my own mix , however feeding at the distance they be fed on the road for 3 days , so what does the driver feed them ????

we have had 3 chanel races so far and they were all fed on mixed peas some beans ,tares and a little maize and it has worked for us so we do not intend to change till the last race from Saintes when we will add extra maize and some peanuts
