Left with 28 from 40 after 10 races between federation and midweek club.

Dropped 7 at the aforementioned wooler race.

Haven't lost a single youngbird training which is a small miracle in present times.

Training has been upto blackwood... roughly around 30 miles before racing started, then twice weekly from only 8 miles.

Next two federation races will be very tough as convoy will be small... Half are now stopped

The BOP are governed by nature and will rear at the same time every year. We have to change. Breed early and organise any age races or YB races during June / July or breed late and race October / November, morning marking and short races. Don't make it easy for them to train their young how to kill. :)

Being sick of young bird losses over the years ie bad weather ,cancellations ,hold overs ,yb sitting in a transporter in humid thundery  conditions the list goes on and on , didnt bother pairing early rung my first youngster mid to late April /May  just fly them at home . I know i probably lose some next year but at least they will have a better chance IMO racing as old birds i will just wait and see .

This is what I do.  I keep threatening to get them some trainers in October or November, but never seem to get around to it.  I have also pushed them too hard when starting to race them, so intend to use a more "kid glove" approach next year. :)

67 , lost 15 of the loft ( in fog ) so 52 got trained and have 29 left with one race to go and maybe a national . Might pick out 20 or so for the last race,  will see tomorrow

Everyone of them have had a race under there belt ,   couple back from the stray centre which will get  trained up  over the next month

  • 1 month later...

Bred 41 ended with 32 all had  3 races apart from 7 that had 1 race as I’m seeing if it matters that they only have one race as babies kept training on my 16 miles break point 3:4 times a week for 3 weeks after I stopped them

As a I rule I send them to all but the last race or two but this year I wasn’t happy with the line the birds were on plus I kept reading of heavy losses so I played safe . It may be a mistake and I could have a team if thick pigeons that  go down easily next year

started with 81 young birds, lost 15 of the shed, between training and 5 races, i have 54 left,

Great returns considering the losses through here Bill. That's the best returns  i 've heard by a large margin, well done. Myself, 23 left from 63 racing
