I was at the meeting

Disgraceful how the president was spoken to the member concerned should have been asked to apologise or leave the meeting

We are lucky to be giong to Guernsey once with the way it is being run

It's no wonder the president has resigned

He had 2 Guernsey pre booked to guarantee we were first in queue and got slaughtered for it

Common sence would have dictated west bay prior to Guernsey something that is sadly lacking it was only my second meeting it will be my last not wanting my name associated with something that was set up to guarantee distance racing for their members and at present wants the opposite

Davie, in reply to your post about Guernsey. Looks like too many people throwing in their unfounded opinions Don't know if you saw my previous post, where I had contacted Keith Mott. Very well known convoyer with plenty of experience of liberating birds at Guernsey. He told me that over the years he must have liberated birds in the region of 15 different times there. Instead of listening to all these negative comments as far as I can see, we should be taking note of somebody who knows what he is talking about. I specifically asked him how the birds cleared, his answer was that there was never any problem. One other point. It was mostly young birds that he was convoying, so old birds should cope even better. Hope this helps to quell some of the doubts about Guernsey, no reason why we shouldn't go and have a good race (only thing wrong - we should be going more than just once). Alastair at Rosyth

Lack of leadership at this once great club, spoiled by inland Nationals. If we can’t race from France or Belgium we should have 3 Guernseys, end of!

Exactly, can't disagree with a word of this, I know we have a problem getting into France or Belgium this year but not withstanding this inland races have and are ruining this great club

The vote to drop the inland nationals was narrowly beaten at the last AGM. Lets get it sorted for next year. I'd have 4 channel races, ROYE, REIMS, TOURS and YPRES { YEARLING ONLY } MAIDSTONE ybs.

Ypres is 530 miles up to Banff and there is lads flying further than us. Maidstone roughly 480 miles a bit far for young birds for the North section lads. Jmo

Nice one Davie, can you recall how the returns were overall?

Not saying I wouldnt send but 480 miles for a young bird is a fair old fly. Lads would be winning nationals flying less than our young birds would have to fly

Only a handful sent up here Ryan as there was a full nat programme 1984 I think it was. Decent entry am sure in open They were a bit thin on the ground from fife up with east in the wind I believe quite a few ended up in Ireland so could be tricky. Don’t know how it’ll go as we were flying west route then Rennes Averanches etc just glad we’re getting a channel race with hopefully a big entry

The decision has been taken, we are going to Guernsey for one race only, it should have been two, but it got voted down, talking about BOP's now is irrelevent, lets hope we get a good weather day, I think that will be more of a factor for a good race.

The other key thing that hopefuly may happen yet is that DEFRA get off their rear ends, and give the all clear, for Avian Flu, if that happens, I think there is a 50/50 chance Europe allow entry again, and we will go back to our original programme.

It is more important than ever, that we get back to being the BEST NATIONAL FLYING CLUB IN PIGEON RACING, that we once were, and concentrate in cross channel racing, that was, and still should be our main objective, leave the inland racing to the federations for us to prepare the birds for the channel races, I know there are those that say, these are the races that generate the cash, and subsidise the channel races, well its time these members realise, we are not a bank set up to acrue large sums of money, that is not giving any benifit to the members, as I said previously we are the SCOTTISH NATIONAL FLYING CLUB.

I hope, I am not taking the liberty here of talking about things that were discussed at the MCM of which I'm a member of, and also attended the meeting, another issue was the £1500.00 that was allocated from the Breeder/Buyer sale to subsidise the birdage in the 2021 GOLD CUP RACE, has been taken away and is now allocated to sudsidise the ferry cost for the Guernsey race, I think this was wrong, as the entire ferry cost should have been picked up by the SNFC, as they already made savings from zero ferry costs for the other nationals.

Final point of my rant, is that I still hope the President will reconsider his letter and at least see the year through, as nothing is ever resolved by walking away, and if I get chucked out for this post, then QUE SERA SERA.
