Would PMV spread rapidly through the loft and kill birds or can they recover from it? The reason i ask this is i have never vaccinated against PMV, but in the past have noticed a bird with trembling wings, which i believe is a symptom, i still have birds from this bird in the loft now. The bird did not die from anything, it was culled, due to lack of space. I maybe looking into this too far. I have recently sent a dropping sample away for analysis, so hopefully any diseases can be picked up from that.

Hi Jack
best get a vet to check wether you kill them or not . Hope you have seperated them from the rest and keep a close eye on others. Symptoms are also similar to some rodent poisoning(rats or mice using drinkers or contaminating corn).
BEST OF LUCK . Hope it is something easily treatable

Hi mate get them tested but my guess would be  streppicocci or e-coli. will need to be treated with antbiotic
most likely Amoxicillin but the vet will tell you what is best for your birds.

good luck mate but i have heard quite a few people are having issues like this at the moment.

John

jack i would  nap them mate,  and make sure the rest of your birds are given  treatment for  para and ecoli , rid your shed the best you can, as you are most likely to be over ran with mice  or rats its possible the birds that you bought in where not jagged  so  cut your losses, and let that be a lesson to you  jag if not sure  in future,  fog the loft with a good disinfectant like v-kill

Well I'm bloody I glad I don't kill 'em for having trembling wings, or I would never have got my pigeon from Palamos this year.

Ok guys like i said it was about 2 years ago, so i maybe a little blurred in the symptoms. I have never raced or shown birds, although now thinking, this is the reason i have not vaccinated before, although i will start to in future.

Mate I only give the PMV vaccine, treat for Worms Cocci and Kanker. I never isolate. Why would you? You put your birds in with a 100 potential strays every week.
