In need of advice from a newcomers perspective...
Would anyone take on white logans with a view to racing from them or are they more attractiveness than racing ability, would they be competitive I guess is what i'm asking

I think it depends where you get them from.
Like anybirds you buy you always want them from winners or producers of winners.
Look for somebody who is racing them and buy from them although not fully tested yet I have 1 here that is coming well but time will tell!
