Nice birds, and brilliant layers, my family had these most of the time, they average 300 eggs a year
I just bought four Silkie Bantams at Lanark market for Chickadee, guess what colour they are

To stop the cock crowing too early you make it's housing low enough that it cannot streatch it's neck, this stops it from crowing till you let it out, then you don't get wakened too early and stops it annoying the neighbours
