when ETS rings are registered to a birds ring number it also gets the owners union number registered on it, so if someone gets an ETS ring which dose not bear his union number on it this will come as not registered to him when the ring is being assigned to one of his birds, its then up to the person assigning  the rings to ask where he got it, as he can re register it in the persons name, so rings taken off birds can be re registered, so not a sporting thing to do taking rings off birds, but what you must remember there are those that dont like ETS.

Hopefully in the very near future the fixed union rings will carry a chip, thus no need for a seperate ring which is easy removed

Sad people, very sad people indeed.

People who do such a thing are one of the reasons we are suffering these days - its not about being a sportsman its about trying to put something over someone.

If they get caught they shuold be brought to the councils and dealt with accordingly.

the ring companys making the transponders would like to do that , but it would make all rings expensive , and if the transponder stopped working it would need to be replaced

people removing rings are sad , and these people of the anti ets brigade should be ashamed of there actions as unbecoming of a true sportsman , i dont have ets just yet but when im happy that all the issues around it have been solved i will gladly install one i have the power supply ready . I try to get all strays that enter my loft nearer to home be it north or south no mater how many rings are on the birds ets and alike , i believe some fanciers have even had adress rings removed before as well . These people should respect other peoples property and treat them as i do as if there were my own .

maybe the way forward would be that when clubs ordered rings they could order either life rings with transponders and normal without , the only problem would be the compatability issues

I don't agree with it at all, especially considering the price of them!
but don't think for a minute that it is only anti ETS people who are doing it.
I know for a fact there are people who assign rings who are guilty of this.

the point im making is if life rings were ordered a season in advance by individual members with transponders , then more rings made would reduce the overall cost, and make it less easier for any removal

heres a response from bricon regarding the life ring been incorperated with the life ring and cheating issues:

Cheating can’t be done with the chips (transponder), adding the fanciers data as in Belgium or Holland is possible but again has no security benefit only that the owner of the chip is protected against steeling. Incorporating the chip in the life ring will also give no extra, the chip must be replaceable at any time for 2 reasons: 1 defect of the chip, 2 if you enter in all rings from the beginning a chip the cost for the Fanciers will be 3 to 4 times higher as he only now chips his pigeons that he wants to race, in the other case all pigeons in your loft will carry a chip that can never be passed on to another.

I dont agree with it i think it really stinks that people would be so petty, i have not had it happen yet but its something i have accepted as an occupational hazard when they leave the loft - if people are that desperate its up to them but i wont give them the satisfaction of letting it bother me

Its the secreteries i feel sorry for !!

Would it be possible to assign the birds ETS rings in the same way the birds are vaccinate in front of two witnesses. So all birds carrying the ETS ring would have documented and signed proof that the ring was assigned by two members and not just one
