I,m having difficulty in reading the response, does anyone have the same problem? if so how do i go about solving it, it appears the writing is far to small to be readable. I,ve had this problem with a few other sites as well.

Wednesday 13 August 2008 pigeonracing - epetition reply We received a petition asking:
“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to officially recognise pigeon racing as a sport.”
Details of Petition:
“Pigeon Racing is not currently classed as a sport. I wrote to Mr Blair a few years back now, and didn’t have much of a response. Keeping racing pigeons, and preparing them for a race takes a lot of time and effort by the owner / keeper of the pigeons. So why Pigeon Racing can’t be classed as a sport is beyond me. Please could you take a close look at this, and hopefully change the way it stands now. Thanks.”

Read the Government’s response Decisions on whether particular activities and pastimes should be recognised as sports are made by unanimous agreement between the home country sports councils, and it would be inappropriate for Government to intervene in this matter. Any decisions to fund recognised sports are made by the individual home country sports councils.
In the first instance, I would recommend a submission to the relevant sports council, outlining the case for recognising pigeon racing. The sports council will be able to provide information on the criteria for recognition of an activity as a sport. In this instance they can be contacted at:
Sports Council for Wales Sophia Gardens Cardiff CF11 9SW
igot a mail from my mate gordon at no 10 just now ,passing it off to the different sports councils just great eh?
well looks like he couldnt pass it on to the sports council , i supose as we arent a sport we arent a buisness so perhaps he could take back the taxs demands off us at the same time
Now that there's been a response from 'No 10' and have been told to contact the relevant sports councils, why don't we set up something to go to each of the sports councils? As we have enough people on here from all over the UK to get in contact with the sports councils, we could select one member to represent england, wales, northern ireland and scotland, and then again draw up a petition for each part of the UK and present it to them? I would be happy (with the help of Richard) to get this done.
Also, what are the advantages and disadvantages (if there are any) of pigeon racing being classified as a sport?
well it would be turned down as a sport as we have too many divisons i.e no one set of rules and one governing body , i would love to have it recognised as a sport but the sport council will also be worried about fanciers asking to fund clocks and new stock lofts ectra where would the funding stop ? i know we should state that as a individual sport that no funding would be nessersary from the sports council to premote our sport or fund any members needs

Well if it did get passed as a sport, maybe it could be the thing that unites everyone?
Also if there was support from the sports council, it would be easier to promote the sport and other things like that
we cant be taken serious till we have one representing body then we will have the foundation for a sport , diffrent bodies different rules ectra. I think we all need to address the need for more than one governing body with our unions , or the alternative is to start a new unions for all but the danger lies in any new organisations rings would not be recognised by the R.P.R.A and im sure not all would welcome a progresive change

in my view the confederation of unions should take this on board and push on our be half after all what was it set up for?????
there may be a confederation of unions but as the rules for each union differ then there is not one set of rules , so the confederation does not give a level playing field for all. Many different rules regarding ets at the moment in each union also thimbless t3s , Scotland not allowed to address stamp there birds , gb supposed to be flown stamped clearly , nehu arent allowed to write there own bird list out if i was to sit down with all these different rules they be hundreds of diffrences
