heard the story at the club that a basket of buckie birds escaped general feeling was it must have been the row of ten crates because of the quick release mechanism club officials asking for an explanation.   john thompson

RPRA ruling is,In the event of any pigeon(s)escaping, convoyer must seek his/her Organisations official regarding emergency action to be taken.

Thats whats supposed to be done but what they would do who knows  If you knew what basket it came from and what club wouldnt be too bad just rerubber that clubs baskets thats if they are rubbered is there a rule for what you do with ets birds   I remember it happening many years ago and they had to rerubber the whole transporter dont think tht would go down very well these days i wonder how many actually got a ringer and any rubbers with them in the first place in fact i wonder how many would say that any birds got out you could always wait for an objection to go in for improbable velocity and have a 168 meeting instead

How many of the convoyers are actually pigeon men and could handle a bird for rubbering?  Think it would probably end up with more escapees!

With regards to ETS, birds still need to be rubbered, and at the clocking station, you need to produce the rubber, therefor the owner of the escapee will not have a rubber to produce

sour grapes lol

Maybe so ???????????   But one mighty quick bird etc (approximately 2500mpm) when you think about it   & not many of them do that velocity, for what I have seen.
PS, it wasn't a head wind was it   .
Enjoy.

Are you saying that you rubber birds that have ETS rings on to go to a race, whats the point of having ETS,surely that would cause twice as much work on basketing nights.

no. he said if a bird escaped you would rubber remaining birds. then on arrival home they would still be clocked using the ets  but then take the rubber to the club. fancier should be made aware that only rubbered pigeons are eligible to compete in the race.

You would still need to record the ring number otherwise there would be nothing to stop someone turning up with a rubber ring off another bird that arrives later.

We had a race i think in 05 from 68 miles we clocked in after 59 minutes and had all within 15 minutes however a fancier beat us clocking in after 44 minutes flying further and in a less favouralble position on the day.

I maintain from that day to this, that bird escaped but nothing was ever done about it - I will see if i can find result to show difference in velocitys

I think you will find that this person was in touch with a member in your club who gave him the wrong time, so he clocked on par with him. If we are talking about the same incident, this fancier was caught the following year in a breeder buyer race when they re-rubbered. He was suspended from all racing.

As for birds escaping the correct procedure is to re-rubber all birds.

I know the incident you are referring to Alan however it was not the same one as the one i have mentioned in my post - I dont attach any blame to the fancier who's bird beat mine - If a bird drops on your loft you clock it and worry about things later.
Would be better to say nothing,  but record what happenned to the o/i/c at the home end., in the event of an impossible velocity being recorded. Too much work any other way!  IT'S HARD ENOUGH TO GET GOOD CONVOYERS WITHOUT CRUCIFYING THEM. LOL.
This is the way that most convoyers in normal club racing would respond.
We know there are rules from the past, that re-rubbering should occur. You would have a holdover if this happennd! Especially with the ets birds. lol. Mum's the word in convoying, Surely!  There must be some pigeons that remain in the baskets during the year , either dead, damaged and half blind, through various reasons. It's better not knowing the whole truth of this great sport, sometimes.   Convoying, done properly,  is a much harder job than most think.  After some of the previous replies on this topic, I really do believe that the game has changed for the worse. Sad indeed! Vic.

IF VIC WAS RE-RUBBERING ets birds on a transporter, I would definitely cover two thirds of  ets rings up with the rubber, to put us back on the same level. lol.

vic no matter if it was covered it still would record the time
i tried it with three rubbers and it still worked after i was told it blocked the chip signal to the pad
some work involved to rubber every bird on the transporter  holding them seems more sensible to me

If a bird escapes all birds should be rerubbered, not sure of procedure regarding ets

its the same with ETs, then you must produce the rubber when taking off clocks.
