I was stood a the back garden watching for the Fife birds home in St. Andrews on Sunday morning. Broken cloud and sunshine. The wind was strong enough though.

All the best to you Tom.Wonder if with a name like redwhiteblue, he perhaps thinks the Midland fed are maybe all Celtic Fans.

I many moons ago flew in the midland Fed,and he's begining to give me the Hump.

I think you have the wrong end of the stick Rab.I dont think redwhiteandblue was having a go at anyone.I think he was merely pointing out that he knew the returns in the Midland fed have been terrible again this year going into the Solway. Tom Corrie says the returns have been great well that is great news for a change but if they have been great then surely everyone should be getting their birds home and not just him. I dont think redwhiteandblue is at all interested in Tom Corrie just the fact that he seems to be projecting a false picture of the races they have had this year?????? I know for a fact, flying in the Midland fed for the last 4 years, that when you take your ybs into the Solway area then they are hammered with the peregines.Losses, over the last 3 years especially, have been outragious.Yet they still vote to go down that route to win a first prize card.They tell lies about returns etc.  I would like to ask one question to Mr.Corrie, why, if the Solway is a good area to race from, have you and the rest of your members ,only sent about 10% of your yb team each week?

I know what you're saying Bart, but experience from these racepoints, ie Alnwick and Whitley Bay, leads me to the conclusion that the y/bs will try to come over the water as when at my previous address which was not far from the sea, the birds, especially the leaders, always came out of the east when there was any west in the wind and fanciers right on the waters edge seen them coming in from the sea. The latecomers probably hugged the coast or took less water, could that be because they were not so fit, who knows.
The wind turned North west in Peterhead on Sunday morning with the heavy rain clearing out into the sea which would have been right in the birds path if they took the direct route. It will be interesting to sea how many turn up or are reported. I would suggest any that do will be ones that wern't going to make it anyway, even on a good day.

We got 18 out of 19 from Marlbrough - 134 miles to us.

Bit of an erratic race with alot of birds coming out of the back!

Please do not shout I am not one of your patients, I am not interested in what happens in the Corrie loft, I am not interested in the Midland Fed I am only interested in the welfare of the pigeons.  I have a few good friends in this fed who have no pigeons left to compete in the programme, these guys are sending 40 & 50 pigeons and I do not question the integrity of these fanciers therefore I can only assume that there is a problem racing into the Solway area.  As for your friend Rab, he can start complaining about returns when he starts competitive racing.  It must be really interesting keeping fantails if he feels he has to get involved in ths debate!!  Why is it you have only sent 22 pigeons in total to three races ??  As I have stated earlier you are one of the biggest birdage fanciers in your club therefore why is it you feel the need to have a go when I am merely stating the facts that I have been told about these returns.  If you want me to start about the officials of the Fed just let me know and I will be happy to oblige!!

I am more than aware of the problems with east v West arguement within the Midland fed.

All i am saying, is it is there right to collectavley make the desision to go dowm the west coast if they  choose to do so.

Whats more they should have the right to do so, without being wound up after every race.

Redwhiteblue you are entitiled to you oppinion,and in many ways think you are spot on.

However it is no ones business barr theres

elgin is 60 miles west of peterhead only 21 birds clocked in two days also inverurie took 8 hours for 3 birds just look at the most other clubs in fed for returns a disaster

i think that the bluetooner might be spot on it is about time we started to look at the lib sites and set a good line of flight but we also have to get the right person to liberate our pigeons for i think that clashing is also a contributing factor as this is just babies we are throwing away year after year.

perhaps we are all to blame.five races and we are at 160 miles next race 240 miles members passed this crazy program at agm and i am as bad. have not attended last three agms. started program with 25 young 3 left 22 lost in 3weeks.  john thompson

In response  about Midland federation flying down the west coast , the members voted on this at every AGM  and voted for same , so certain individuals didnt get the vote they wished and walked out in a childish manner as they had at another AGM when they didnt get their way. As for your continued interest  Redwhiteblue in the amount of pigeons one individual sends smells of envy and as for your comment about shouting that is outrageous making reference to patient and i would expect an apoligy to be logged to Mr Corrie, who is only stated his returns over the  last three weeks the same way anyother member has to keep everyone updated and for interest.

our 1st 2 races were from 55mls then our 3rd race was 91mls, this week we are at the same racepoint 91mls and so far i have lost 4 birds 1 from each of the 1st 2 races and 2 from 2 from the 3rd i think that most losses are down to birds being pushed to far to quickly

the north of scotland have called a special general meeting on thursday evening to look into changing the race program
to see if members still want to go to northallerton or not

Yes your are partly to blame for not attending your feds AGM
But your race program for y/b is to far too soon
carlsberg is correct in my opion and he is flying in Derbyshire not to the North of Scotland
Hope your meeting is sensible and remember it is y/bs

The fed would have to study the maps carefully, possibly around 30- 40 miles west of Alnwick (or even further?) which would give the youngsters the opportunity to cross the firth of forth where it is not at it's widest and also give a direct line over land to the centre of our feds radius and do away with the dogleg. But then again would this bring the Pentland Hills into play? The emphasis here is the welfare of the pigeons and not which clubs gain or lose distance wise.
The first person to get the blame for a bad race is the race controller, but all I can say is that they try their best to give us a race, and if it turns bad they get it in the neck and the other side of the coin, if they think the forecast is bad and don't liberate, there are cries of "why didn't he liberate" they can never win.
