Most of the welsh pigeons once again took a belting this weekend from Newbury,losses reported from clubs throughout the fed.top fanciers loosing half of their teams after only 4 races.For instance in one club alone fanciers having 27 out of 50 11 from 34 this seems to be the norm with most members. The federation (SOUTH WEST GLAMORGAN ) have decided this week we are going to Epsom on wednesday for a thursday liberation just to avoid the clashing. i just wondered what members views are on the clashing.Should the welsh pigeons all be in the same racepoint at the same time and liberate together. That way other feds will want to know where we are to avoid clashing with what could be 20,000 birds if we were all together.Or do we have mid week racing to avoid the clashing.Surely for me the best option would be to ALL go to the same racepoint and liberate together,their all coming into Wales.what are peoples views.
Nigel, the best way would be to all go together, even if it was split north and south would be better but they will never do it! The SWW liberated yesterday 9.05 from Newbury and returns wern't brilliant and they wouldn't have clashed. 2 years ago it was proposed that we liberate with Rhonnda, this happened for the first couple of races and then if there was any north in the wind they wouldn't lib as the birds would go down the M4 and if there was any south in the wind the M4 members didn't want to lib together! They need there heads banging together and work as one!
i think the future of welsh racing is direct south! i dont fly south at the moment ,im on the s/east, but i think there would be less clashing and this would form a much bigger birdage and avoid the losses we currently have on the s/east with us going through every other fed in the country. its either direct south or go north again(missing the dreaded maff restrictions and b/flu).
i dont think going south would be the answer,their having difficult racing as well, with low velocities and poor returns.Do we have too many old bird races? on previous years we would have 2 Hullavingtons ,2 ,Marlboroughs and then down further ,are they getting enough experience. My personal view is we were later than usual with the young birds and people were rushing them down the road to get them in bacause there were no double races therfore they have had no exsperience.Surely the way forward is WELSH birds all together in the same racepoint.
i think if south road feds stuck to a straight line down the country and north wise do the same then im sure there would be less clashing,birds are crossing the country width wise and diagonal wise too. this all adds to clashing on certain days because of meeting at certain points of the country.
I remember as a lad in the early 70's getting up early ( no mean feat for me I can tell you ) to see the Welsh birds liberated from Penicuik public park. Two very large transporters with I'd say well over 20,000 birds, wish I'd paid more attention. It was an awsome sight to see and well worth the early rise.
the problem as i see it is not enough commuication we stood in chepstow race coarse once 14000 to go north let go then bunch going across to bristol way hit none going bristol welsh soth rd birds on one race were over chepstow when wrexam fed let go what happaned clash the only one i worry about is uncombine this year i think there are a lot of ill birds being put in to race you wont see them again
is there many strays in ur area chris m8? had nine in yesterday oldbirds out for a short exercise had 4 in..later on at around 6pm had youngsters out for 2-1/2 hours..not flying that length of time mind lol...and had a further 5 in...i think someones them go outside my house lol. i go 2 weeks with just 5 birds in then 9 in 1 day...they were lib this morning with a gut full of corn and watered.
As it says on the bottom of the diagram 'only some of the liberations'. Trying anything to avoid that lot is surely worthy of consideration.
wouldent there be some competion if everybody was racing the same way instead have haveing north road south road inthe same towns and should this be really aloudto happen as in most cases there are no geniune reasons for starting up a new fed to fly the other way only not to fly aganist some pll should this be allowed to hapen bt the powers that be .

loads but give up on reporting just leave um to stay on roof if they go okay if they dont im not going to leave them long im not wasteing time money mine on peaple who just give rubbish or no reply to you
Just been looking at the weather for thursday and thats not very good,cloudy with showers.Nice day for friday? what do you do for the best,put them in tomorrow and see what happens or have a holdover until friday?.going back to the thread,still think that the Welsh fanciers should get together, all that are going southeast and have the same racepoints and a joint lib,i know in the begining the wind will have a big say in the outcome of the result but the birds will be in Wales and not up country.

my thoughts were for every Federation to be at the same racepint at the same time and to have a joint liberation,for example welsh north road ,rhondda valley ,south west glamorgan and all the west Wales feds.People are going to want to know where the Welsh birds are on a saturday,especially if we are liberating 20,000 piogeons.
