Most of it is just banter and enjoyable, and when anyone does resort to being insulting,it reflects badly on themselves, after all its mostly adults posting, and we are capable of  drawing our own conclusions, and making our own minds up about things.

i think its up to the injured party to report it and if its deemed by a mod and or admin to be insulting then it should be removed along with the author for a set period if the author offends again in a set time then suspension is doubled  j.m.h.o..........pete

That is the biggest problem, WHO draws the line or WHERE does the line get drawn, only way is zero tolerance, that has been tried before but as in reality it never will work on an open forum.
If the forum is a true cross membership of pigeon fanciers then you will get a true cross posting of views like you would in any forum, pub, club, workplace or gathering, the trouble with the internet is it is not a natural tool of interaction. As soon as you meet someone in person you get an idea of how they will react, you will never get that on a computer screen.
The difference is some has a delete button and a lot of things that in person would be dealt with or shelved,
Me personally love the banter, I can look someone in the eye and tell them the truth as I see it also look them straight in the eye and tell them they're a lying git as I see it
I know that there are members on here that cannot deal with banter and would like to see it banned and members that cannot deal with the truth and would to or love having control of the delete button

i agree, last night [to be fair very late last night] it was bang out of order,it was not banter it was abuse,to me there is a vast difference between winding people up, and what was going on in one of the posts,i think it was the one about losses,[might have been taken off by now]it was plain nasty and reflects very badly on us if the "norms" look in on the site

I missed the post you are referring to, if we had to stop posting incase it upset the "norms" then you would be better turning it into a PR machine for Pigeons and those and such.
Could you imagine a football forum where you couldn't criticise or banter, but I must say there is a zero tolerance on swearing on the one I listen to, Ewan and Ruffy, Real football phone in 101fm

some of the posts i refer to have now been "lost" the pigeon shot was another one, which turned plain nasty, banter is banter and on this site most of the time is a bloody good laugh, but last night was plain wrong, its an open site and every one should be able to post what they like, with out the abuse that some guys [not me so its not sour grapes]were getting, maybe it was the drink talking?

banter is fine but some people go far beyond banter and when pulled up about instantly back off and claim they were joking if some one constantly does it they should be asked to moderate their language failing that have their membership withdrawn the site does not need idiots who can not post without reverting to those tactics or swearing

Always said that there should be a topic collumn for letting of steam f at each other. Like the Camanco's. If one was 'Having a go' then a said party would invite the oher(s) into that section. One had to enlist seperately to gain access with another Password. Anyone and everyone with a point of view, or a beef to get shot of, went int that section and sorted it till it had run it's course. If any one - normally trying to drum up others support, making bullets for another to fire, etc. etc. tried to bring it onto the 'Public Domain' - whether vieled or not, then the'd be censored and the posts deleted. If they persisted... then they weren't missed! Soon most were friends again and problem sorted. Strange it is o see some at logger heads in the 'Ring' yet still post to each other as normal on the Public Domain as if nothing was going on there. Have bought this up a few times, so I suppose the powers to be feel that it isn't needed or wanted...

Its a shame when you see sensible posts being ruined and i totally understand it is often very hard to ignore what has been posted but perhaps that is a better way of going about things ignore them and they will go away unless they like talking to themselves

Chriss I think you have hit the nail on the head here. There are some aliases or aka's floating about being set up just to cause bother. Here today gone tomorrow perhaps due to another forum failing miserably.

Paul.

It is amazing the amoumt of newbies that appear when the muck starts flying, you can tell they're aliases and probably multiple account holders too frightened to post in their own name or under one AKA
