The most enduring attribute one can offer any one is their trust. It is the betraying of the trust that cuts deepest. A complete stranger can offer a deal - too good to be true, pr just good enough - and when one puts their trust there and is ripped off.. well it's red face time andfeeling sheepish to foolish. But when one has a decent report with another person, akin to friendship, then that rankles, and rankles big time.
So yes we all have been, and will again no doubt, be fooled, conned, but that is life too unfortunately.
Was just joshing you Duncan as you well know... but for the others that don't he .............. lol . Mind Coxy had a few sleepless nights I'm certain lol.
P.s. Duncan i live in Alberta Canada.

Duncan what goes around comes around mate. Rise above it, onwards and upwards. I am a great believer in the old saying ' if you can't do someone a good turn don't do them a bad one...... but they only ever take the pi*s once'

Paul.

I have learned a lot form ma big pal Coxy and thankfully so has a lot of others on this site and other sites as well, also so has his local police, he is a prolific conman but not the brightest button on the jacket
The good thing is he is just very minute part of life, like a boil on your butt, very sore at the time and something you have to squeeze all the poison out of if you can reach it

I dont really think anyone is falling out here they are just expressing their opinions. I personally think it is a great opportunity for people to buy birds and in particular newstarters. The idea of fees I think should only apply to the more commercially minded sellers but from what I can see ( during my short time on here ) they seem to be getting run out of town so to speak. There will always be a market for pigeons and this forum benefits sellers and buyers. Maybe if sellers want to sell for the coming year they should donate to the auction. The buyers could then give some feedback on the auction birds and it could be used as a point of reference for any future buyers particularly new starts.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

Paul.

Just an opinion
Any member that sells of THEIR excess stock cheap to members should not pay a fee, any member that sells of OTHERS excess stock for as much as they can should pay a fee, any member that just uses the site for this purpose should pay a higher fee

It is quite disturbing reading when people start ganging up on people selling birds, I have noticed it more with the fancy/flying breeds than those people selling so called racing pigeons. You get dealers in everything has anyone brought a car from a car dealer?

As I mentioned before buying any animals it is a case of `buyer beware'. Unfortunately there are unscrupulous people selling things in all walks of life. Prospective purchasers clue your self up and ask the right questions - do your best to view/handle before you buy or take someone experienced with you if you are a beginner. Do not just amtrak on someones word !!

What I would look for :-

Nice perky disposition.
No lumps or bumps
No discharge from the eyes or nostrils.
Have a look down its throat, nice and pink? no mucas or inflammations.
A sheen on the feathers (wear a dark top and and hold the bird against it, you should have a white dust (bloom) which settles on the fabric.
Open the wings and let them snap shut, feeling for tightness in the elbow joint.
If it is a flying/performing breed see it fly/perform.
Look at the conditions in which it is kept.

With the fancy show breeds no-one is going to sell you their best !! try and get some relatives of the finest birds and then work at it ! Rome was not built in a day.

Adam I agree mate, it is always a case of buyer beware. I became involved in one of the earlier threads because I saw the same person advertising the same birds on two different websites, with two different stories as to why they were selling. Alarm bells immediately rang, and as someone who was deceived when buying birds as a novice, I wouldnt want the same to happen to someone else.

Unsurprisingly, as soon as I had posted on here about the birds, the advert on the other website mysteriously disappeared, perhaps confirming my suspicions???

Adam i'am novice and when i buy a bird first a read about breeders and his results and then i go with someone with experience to take it.If i read on Net about fanciers and birds ist not necesary to buy.Now ist a world at PC and Internet.
