I have found out who has stolen all my birds, the reason I know is because one of my mates went to the guys door who we thought it would be and he seen 3 of my bird.

What do I do now ....

Do I contact the police or do I take the law into my own hands.

Go to the police quitetly.. definitley dont take the law into your own hands or the chances are you'll end up worse off.

I have been to the police and they said I have got to be able to prove the birds are mine...

So if your flying from anywhere in the West of Edinburgh this guy flys from Longstone area.

How old are you, would you family and friends miss you, even come and visit you?

was going to suggest a non politicaly correct way in ending the despute but that would be wrong in me doing so , well if my birds i would get them back , and show the guy the deck

I have called them and they have asked if I can provide evidence which I can't.

I feel like going to his hut later on and just letting all his birds out and hope they return to there owners

if as you say your birds have been seen at his premises go around with your friends and knock ask him for your birds back if he then refuses take your mobile from your pocket and phone the police tell them your at his house with your mates and hes refusing to give you back your property from a crime that has been reported to them 9 times out of ten he will give you them back before you actually dial 999....peter

doesn't look like there is a lot you can do..don't take the law into your own hands as you'll make a bad situation worse. hopefully what 'goes around comes around' for this guy. even if your horsemans were rung he could cut the rings off . can fancy pigeons be microchipped ? of course an unrung racer is not a lot of good. would the horsemans 'home to you' if he let them out. if so they are not a lot of good to him and perhaps he'll breed from them and let them go. its a lot of injustice to take...i'm sorry.

Don't go near the house without police accompanying you as you visiting (alone or in company) is likely to be seen as committing a breach of the peace.

Proving unrung pigeons are yours sounds a problem. Do any of them have special or unusual markings that you alone would know? Are any of them especially tame with you? There's always the homing instinct too ... provided he hasn't cut their flights, given their freedom they are likely to return to you. If he has nothing to hide he should have no reason to refuse..

Name and shame him, I am sure there are people in your area who could help you out  

Be careful, I went to Coxy's door in Stoke on Trent when he done me, despite a number of interviews by the police, they new what he was like and his family lied through their teeth to protect him, luckily for me they were bad liers and kept changing their stories about the way I behaved

sadly this happened to me years ago ,came home from work all my birds gone even took me corn rings etc ,took me two weeks to find me birds ,without evidence the birds belong to you ,its hard to prove there yours ,i would have killed the git if i had got him ,his dad tried telling me they all entered his loft the night before ,had me in stitches then i just kicked the door off his loft and let them all out ,then knocked his dad out.

but sadly he had removed most of the rings from me birds .
but he never tried to pinch them again
but sadly now the law takes a different view to violence,

you got to be careful when dealing with scum they no ever rule in the book ,they will accuse you of threats to himself his family and the police will take his side as you have entered his property .

i would name him so any fanciers in that area know what he is like

You know where they are - go and reclaim them.

I had my Staffy Stolen two years ago in November, i had to put a lot of time and work in to get an idea where she was once i had an idea i just had to keep pace with them and there movements, one front door went through but she had been moved, second door through and i had my dog back - i didnt do it on my own though and would never advise that unless your built like a brick S*it house.

Morale of the story, same with my birds if i had known where they were i would not have hesiatated for a minute to go and get them back with or without the law

Heaven and earth would not stop me from going and getting my birds back, i would just knock on the door and say "I want my birds back, we can do it the easy way or the hard way........... for you that is", and if you take a bat or anything keep it hidden til you need to show that you mean business,......... yes i know, but thats part of my education from being bought up in an inner city estate!!!

Im going to put this behind me and build up on the racers, so looking for some now....

if the scum dosnt give your pigeons back kick *expletive removed* out of him and then take all his aswell as long as u got a good story to back you up the police wont do anything trust me been there done it

are you sure the birds are yours  go and see the guy take a couple of mates to witness his actions if he will not let you check his loft  try blufing him with the cops if no joy catch him one dark night and get even with him thats what i would do  as he sounds like a bucket of sh-t

forget the law ! go around his house ask politly for your birds back if he refuses tell him ok but make sure  he knows you are not going to let it be .
give it a day or so then start paying him a visit start by pouring urine through his letter box [not your own forensics !] then paint spray his house [add what you like ] then spray his car or one of his familys with paint remoover [ turpentine is good ] play it as you like the law wont do nowt then if all fails there are plenty of scumos out there that will do the dirty for a fix

find out if they are definatly yours first...if they are ask for them back....if he refuses..DO TO THEM AS THEY DO TO YOU....

go out to the fishing tackle shop  buy 2 pints of maggots and pour them thru his letter box,in this weather it wont be long before the flies hit swarm proportions.........pete[the urban terrorist lol]

Mate i know how it fels i had mine stolen im sure i know who did it but without proof couldnt do anythink i might go round and see if he has got any of mine tonight if he has then i would do what a lot say on here do what he did to you steel them back lus whatever else he has.
