WELL WE ARE IN A 2 BIRD WITH ONLY 10 MEMBERS AT THE MOMENT
AND IF EVERYONE SENDS AND POOLS BOTH BIRDS UP WHICH IS £10.50 WE ARE PAYING
BETWEEN £100-£150 PER RACE BUT IF THEY DONT SEND ITS STILL A DECENT PICKUP BECAUSE PRIZE MONEY IS PAID UP FRONT BEFORE THE RACING STARTS

this year we did a 10 bird nom for a bit of interest £2 per bird & pool up to £2 with around £20 per position & same with pools split around 10 ways you could still send as many as you wanted.we did this as they were no prize money all birdage went to fed worked realy well as picking 10 is hard which was great for me as i only have a small team. i wanted to do same with ybs but some dont want it as they have stacks of ybs & makes it exspensive earlier this year i picked up a nearly £300 with pools & prize money for a 3 bird race which was well nice.

Taylors choice in crewe is a two bird race .Jones brothers took first and seond and the single nom they walked away with 1240 pounds.
Normal club race is about 6 pound for first prize.Specialist clubs pay more but most money is made up on pools if people pool the birds that is

We just put 10p above the federation charge for birdage and that goes to prizemoney and this is what makes the highest prizewinner at end of season. usually only adds up to around £320 so nobody gets rich cos it is five prizes per race.

and making sure your first bird is pooled   otherwise skint ,,, the thing about pools are ,,,they are optional , so if your not a betting man , you dont have to pool ,, we used to have a hundred pound pool [in the nationals] , some were against this,, could never understand this , because , whatever the pooling is,,its allways optional, even if its a ten pence pool, so the way i see it ,,if the pools ,[say] went up to ten pounds in either club or fed ,,i,e  if only 5 members entered ten pound pool [and your one of them ] your really only racing against 4 birds for fifty pounds ,,,,,,,,money can cause a lot of problems , but simple,, you either pool or you dont , your certainly not forced to   good luck anyway p,s
the average prizemoney in a club race is very little

We have pools, prize and points money in our club

the prize money is in the combine races - and the basket costs have been increased to provide prize money - so the prize money depends on birdage - the longer the races - the smaller the prize money - as less are sent - and its paid out equally to the first 5 birds.

Points money - is £2 a point  (5 points for 1st = £10 )- but also £1 is paid out to each bird 6th - 10th in each race in the  club - this is paid on presentation night - the prize money is paid along with the pool money after each race

To me, this is a very interesting post etc, but a very contentious one. Myself !!!!!!!! I would much prefer to race just for the honour of winning (No prize money) at a club level & only pay for the fed prize money, what ever that may be. I've never felt comfortable taking money out of the pocket of my fellow club members etc, when it happens because I firmly believe that at the end of the day, most of it goes to a select few. Fine if you just happen to be one of them etc, but many here would know     that in the real world of pigeons sadly, most fit into the looser catagory most weekends, as much as we dislike it   . Especially when you just happen to fly in a big club.
Enjoy.

The good thing about this year is that it has been well shared out - and so have the trophies - with novices having their first wins - all members also receive £10 - just for taking part

Our club is about £17 - 20 pool money a week
also have specials for most races at least £10
plus a gold ring race,
last one of the season yb's  will be around £200  split 50% 30% 20%   1st 2nd 3rd

The best thing about our club is everyone gets on we have a good crack every week
worth more than prize money
