lets see how the vote goes and then take it from there i am willing to take whatever steps to better pigeon racing and get it reconised as a sport with one Union, most voters seem to agree with a one union for all .And i will be happy to appproach all unions to ask what they think on this matter , and hopefully ill have a few thousand emails to back up what im suggesting.
how about setting up an online patition, publicise it on all web forums etc and send that to the Unions?

Brilliant idea, sports councils will only recognise one representing body, they will not deal with two or more
Personally would like to see it happen but the old spitting oot the dummy always happens Me and Billy are starting a partnership and not impressed by any of the bodies we have a choice to join, being Scottish at heart foremost I would prefer to join the Scottish Homing Union and be part of a UK Homing Union
that is my suggestion have the rings GB, N.E.H.U, N.W.H.U, S.U, Welsh, I.H.U ,N.P.A but bring them in to one governing body , one headquaters for all and one union . Everyone can still have there national rings.

The rings could have UK then ScU 00000, EnU 0000 WeU 0000 or IrU 0000
It is possible, I was part of the restructuring of the Judo governing bodies when we became part of Sport Scotland (formally the sports council), we changed from the Scottish Judo Federation to Judo Scotland
I have thought about rings now for sometime , and i think the n.e.h.u way is best , RPU (Racing Pigeon Union )then initial E for England W for Welsh S for scotland I for Ireland then the next 3 initals for area , and rest numbers , this would help in starting stray centers ectra
I think there's far more to worry about than rings! Maybe this is another possibility, If a patition was raised with enough sig's ready for the new general manager of the RPRA and other unions then there should be an open meeting called with all organisations at Blackpool in January. This would give the membership the opportunity to question directly the organisations without being redirected through regions etc. If it was done in the correct manor and in a constructive way then any changes could be proposed intime for 2009 or to start making changes for 2010!
At the moment we have little chance of getting to the only people who can change things, this would help put our sugestions and feelings forward. ETS has moved the sport forward, like it or not, but we need to drag the rest of the sport forward now to catch up.
You should not be sorry, you think things are ok, the thats your oppinion and your intitaled to it
I on the other hand beleive that in 20 years time our sport will be all but dead if we do not act,and i am also intitaled to my oppinion
Happy days
I respect the opinion of you all but i dont think it could happen if England alone has been broken into different unions i cant see a way for the entire United Kingdom to work together.
A few years ago the NFC, CSCFC, BICC etc formed a group and threatened to break away from the RPRA, perhaps if they had of it would have made the RPRA sit up and think!
The R.P.R.A will bury it's head in the sand till its too late im sure as long as big studs like Louella buy rings from them they will not change. Im supprised that above organisations have not printed there own rings long before now
If organisations printed there own rings, due to the small quantity the price would be higher and birds carrying those rings wouldn't be recognised by the RPRA etc so the birds would have to wear 2 rings to compete.
yes as they do all other rings , i have flown welsh birds scotish birds nehu birds all not my union but as long as im the registered keeper then they can compete , they wont be reported to the R.P.R.A but to a new union
they only permit the use of rings from recognised unions, a breakaway may not be recognised and they would not have to accept the use of the rings! As I said they won't allow some rings that they sell, distribute and register now to be used on race birds!
then surely the way forward would be to get a membership base to form a new union, however if they dont reconise some ring they distribute then it would be hyprocitical not to recognise a new union
what would worry me about the scheme is 1/ the centralisation might make it even less in touch with grassroots than the rpra allready is. 2/ the full cost savings might not materialise if further tiers of fulltime management were needed (eg regional managers reporting to national management ) and if allowed to become a self perpetuating beuracracy....now that would be costly! 3/ 'divide and rule' was the old adage but if the new organistion fell under defras spell they would be running the sport...the rpra did a good job on avian flu but it needed a bilco wake up call finally 4/ if the new organisation maintained the current lack of transparency in its work lots of members would feel even less enfranchised. i've voted no (sorry) but i'm willing to be converted
