been using it in al my lofts i wont be changing any day soon much easier

It is good stuff thats for sure - I found a place local at £10 a bale also which is nearly £4 cheaper than the nearest 'Pigeon supplies'

One bale has done my main 32ft loft under the grills and im sure there is enough there to do the 16ft loft if i decide to keep it.

I looked at becoming the agent for it locally i still might do yet as the actual cost involved buying bulk is peanuts compared to even what you are paying there is a very high mark up on it

how long does it last?
i was told that a true working deep litter never needs to be changed by a old fancier some years ago, he aid it takes a good while for the dropping to be brokern down but when it works correctly it prevents cocci etc
any no if he was correct

The Hemcore i have down in the stock loft (without grills) has been down for nearly 12 months and is in excellent clean condition.

I just took it from under the grills after 15 months also in good nick.

With regard to Deep Litter in general i know Geoff Clare had his deep litter down in his stock loft for at least 8 years up to him moving and if he hadnt moved it would still be there now!

His stock loft never ailed

i dont know at preventing anything , but i suppose they'll become more immune to infections by having it in , deep litter if looked after will last alot of time if you keep turning it over and sprinkling stalosan f or loft white on it every now and again to keep it smelling sweet as long as its dry you wont get smell , i always thought deep litter was for lazy people but it does keep my birds in good nick with clean feet so i can see the benifit for both fancier and pigeon
