If in doubt leave them out... but you will be dammed if you do, and dammed if you don't. Other wil get some birds and that will always make one feel 'Wished I'd sent'. regardless of others losses. Another reason why I never send first race... out of the averages, so never a need to send in 'Hope' on a 'Wing and a Prayer'. Can you afford to lose the birds? Will next years nets / breeding be affected? If needed, a bit of paper is never worth a good bird, or a pretencially good bird! When a loft has a a good estabilished foundation you will always have a good idea... if you haven't, then it may well be that your loft is not strong enough and you're still building it up! You have to decide of course, and at sometime they all have to be tested BUT only when in geat condition and frame of mind! Send and lose some means you will be peeved off. Don't send and you will be peeved of and wished you hadn't. Jim ---- had some of the best birds available from many countries... never won much, was always finding reasons not to send... You know that one that you don't mind losing, the one that often surprises you as to how well it actually has done in retrospect! Was it because it was sent every time?!
Birds shoud be at Falaise this wekend, but looking at the weather I can't see them getting up. Should I risk it or not ?
that is what you keep them for , to race , not keep them sitting in a loft , you have to put faith in your race controller, if you went by forecasts you would probably never send at all
