There are all sorts of theories regarding racing pigeons, 'wing theory' and 'eyesign', also 'throat theory' all having their followers and critics. There are lots of other views and beliefs about pigeons, that's what makes the sport so interesting and full of debate. For me I wouldnt have a red cheq in the shed - its just a long standing joke and a bit of fun. The most important thing is that you like your pigeons - how they handle, good quality feathering, good overall health etc. etc. and at the end of a race the 'feet theory' comes into play - first feet on the landing board on race day wins the race.
Whatever theory you subscribe to - enjoy your pigeons .
All the best

Dont think colour matters at all the only thing that matters is having a good pigeon all colours have bred winners and they have all also bred plenty of losers probably blues or cheqs produce quite a few winners but thats because you usually find there are lot more of them in peoples lofts than say reds mealies grizzles or whites Never been interested in eyesign except in looking at the third eyelid but in the majority of cases good birds have good eyes and the rest of the theories that people use as well
I don't know how much truth there is in white feathers becomming burnt out quickly, or hawks picking off the white ones first - the latter seems logical though?
