We sometimes let the widowhood cocks out fior exercise on basketting morning, when they are 'right' though we keep them in, because they are that wound up we would never get them in if we let them out.

We never have the young birds or widowhood hens out on a Friday.

I fly natural and I've never seen any benefit in keeping the birds in on the morning of basketing, mine will be out as usual for 7am on a non-training day.  I understand though the different systems will have different needs.

One change I will be making this year is the time the pigeons are fed before basketing. Have got a 4 and 1/2 day week for this, and plan to feed and water for 2pm on basket day, whatever day that falls on. In the past have felt I was not doing the birds justice coming home 6pm try to feed, water and basket and be down the clubhouse for 6.30pm.

IB !!!!!! It's crap isn't   when you have to do it like that (Mad rush) Didn't you have a good woman on the scene to help you out etc there   at least now you have a bit more time to do the right thing & enjoy them a bit more on basket day, shall we say.

i think i would do the opposite ib [no offence intended just my opinion, i would keep the naturals in [if theve been well trained , and try and have an" edge" on them for the sat , especialy in the short races ,, i would do the opposite with the w, hood cocks ,, have them out early and have them ready for a bath , then get them in early , i found this way they rested better on a friday this way, i used to try and feed at the hopefull time of lib on a friday ,, i def think your right in feeding them at 6pm then basketing them , they would just bring  it back up again,, better earlier ,,,good luck ib  

ive let them out on erly mornin on basket day

i allow mine out on the day of basketing but that is just a personal preference

mine are out now

me... too.. I let them out like a normal loft fly. and then let them rest the whole time before basketing. I also cover or darkend my loft early afternoon for them to have a good rest)
