Pic of a flight we have on the end of the fancy pigeon loft. Its 6'x6' and 3' off the floor with a wire floor and half coverd roof.

Crikey, Phil, that's big!  Probably as big as my garden. haha  Look really sold though and excellent for the warm weather (I had to stick an electrinc fan through the window as it was so hot yesterday.  Pidge was sat in his bath   Am still undecided about the caging - still can't feel right about it, but I might see about building an aviary for the side though.

More work on the shed over the weekend - with the vents, it's starting to look a bit less like a potting shed.  The neighbours are bound to cotton on soon

Sorry for the late info, Roger Pets in Filton (just down the road) has probaly the best selection of pigeon equipment. If you want a spudnik then you can get them from A E James & Son Barrow Gurnay, pm me before and i will get it placed on my account (its not in my name) that way its cheaper.

If you want your welcome to have a small kit of young birds (numbers up to you) from the race team when i pair them back up in June!!! You will not get anything better to start off with.

Stuart

Stuart - many thanks for the supplier details.  Having done loads of Google searches I never found those!  Will pop along to Roger's Pets after work and see if I can get some stuff.  Will contact AE James and hopefully go see some sputniks just to see what's there.  As for your bird offer, I'm speechless and will PM you.

David, its only 6'x6' made up of 3'panels!
As i said i've got some spare panels here if you wanted to make a 3'x3' flight would give the bird/birds somewhere to go out into during the day while your not there and then you could let them out for a fly while you are there.
This way you can keep an eye on the birds when your home.
Some people leave the birds out all day but this can attrackt cat etc as well as cause problems with neighbours if the birds are sitting on there roof etc.

Phil - that's a really good idea - best of both worlds!  I'll send you a PM.  David

I have been quite busy, and it's still a work in process of course.  I'm being sent a hen in the next day or so which will give pidge some quick company, but am totally grateful to Stuart for his offer - and will see how it goes over the next few weeks.  I might then be ready for a few more    Will post some pics of the shed when I get a bit more time.  Cheers

Pidge and his hen are settling in well together.  I collected her a week ago today.  She's a bit hesitant with me, but they're now sharing a shelf (mostly).  Cooing noises regularly.  She was lying down (well, sitting with legs tucked in) whilst pidge was preening her last night.  They like splashing about in their bath!

Am trying to put aside time to erect the fly-out from the panels Phil gave me.  Thought I'd post a few pics for interest:

"I'm ignoring her.  Stay off my shelf!"

"OK then - you can stay on here with me!"

they look happy David, the droppings on the newspaper look nice and firm as well, a good indication he is healthy again.

Hi.  I was going to leave this until tomorrow as I'll have a bit more time, but thought I'd post an update.  'Bluey' is doing really well with his hen, but after nearly a month, I didn't think there were going to be any eggs.

However, she sat in her nest bowl towards the end of last week (and around swap over time, I saw ONE EGG   There'll be two in there now.  Here's Bluey taking his turn on the nest:

If all goes well, the pigeon from the kitchen is going to be a dad

I'll post more updates as things happen.  Thanks in the meantime for the interest people are continuing to show

Cheers guys/gals.  Bluey is glowing.  The pic of him on the nest didn't have a flash.  The place I was going to get a Sputnik was closed over the weekend, so it's going to have to wait another day or so.  Hopefully, 2 becomes 4

It's taken a lot of persuasion to get the 6x4
