At the moment, they get garlic for a day then cider vinegar for a day then Orego Stim and Probiotics on the 3rd day and then the same cycle repeated, to keep them healthy.

As much tap water as I can get in the drinker & as often as possible too!

Craig, the orego stim seems to be keeping them healthy, but it says on the tub that it need to be given every day, which would require you to buy a few tubs a year, so it would start to work too expensive.

Sbelbin, we use Orego stim every day,  It's a good stuff......

Westy i use the garlic puree much easier but in the past i used garlic gloves I agree with Mike though about the plain water especially on my channel races I like my birds to drink as much as they want before they go I have my doubts about how some of the birds are fed and watered while they are away

Tap water 5 days, crushed fresh garlic 2 days (currently Sat & Sun).

ive heard baby milk powder, honey, any other natural stuff?

ive tried the baby milk powder, reared up cracking yb,s

now i use
garlic  twice a week
johnsons tonic once a week
fresh water the rest of the week

& started to put a table spoon of honey in a 2 LTR bottle of water also once a week in the breeding section,

Was toying with honey & garlic in the drinking water on race days.

See you're using honey, Snowy, wondered if you had any preference on type?

Had clocked-onto the clear, golden-coloured variety, but haven't checked out whats available yet. Any comments on best / best use, folks?

I was giving honey on race days didnt notice any diffrence though

yes read a bit on honey on a few sites, say it gives them more energy which you should notice the following day, so i would give the day before a race, and generally good for them,
im using the natural honey with nothing added whats so ever, its not exactly clear, but not as cloudy as some, its more clearer at the top,
its supposed to be straight from the comb

last year i added honey and sea salt to the drinkers on return of the birds but never noticed any change,this year i with stick with electrolights

I THINK HONEY IS LIKE CLUECOSE IT'S AN INSTANT GIVEN ENERGY, SO WOULD PROBABLY BE GONE BY THE TIME THE BIRDS REQUIRE IT, I REMEMBER WE USED TO GET A HANDFULL OF GLUECOSE TO TAKE IN THE MARINES BEFORE STARTING A ROUTE MARCH, ALSO MARATHON RUNNERS TAKE IT AT THE START OF A RACE, AS ITS AN INSTANT SOURSE OF ENERGY,

honey is supposed to be an energy fix, but more like a banana than glucose, as bananas let the energy out slowly , unlike the glucose, which is short termed.(quick fix)

Molasses I think could mean different things to different people from a tar / distilling by-product to a sugar refining by-product. Wondered if you wouldn't mind confirming what yours is and why you give it, Pigeonchested?

My original aim was a glucose 'instant lift' when the bird arrived home. Rose's post on pre-race use has me wondering, as has yours. Agree about the burst of energy and that its short lived, but wondered how it would be used up in the basket? Surely as there's no exercise, its not being used?

Could it become a little reserve the bird has stored-up for use in the early part of the race?

I also use honey in the (warm water). Place it in the loft 1 hour before pigeons arrive. If they do arrive on time.

I get my molasses from my local health shop for less than two pounds and it lasts me a whole season. I read years ago that a highly successful partnership used it and it was a great energy source it has certainaly done my birds no harm.
  

some pepole us a tea, do u use it and is it affective and what do you use in it and what does it do.

some fanciers use pigeon tea and use it the day after the race, it contains herbs which are thought to cleans the birds of toxins[as toxins can build up after hard fly]they also contain herbs to relax them, thats just basic westy but hope it helps

Garlic & cider vinegar during the week and honey on a saturday after the race.

First point - Avoid the misuse of antiobitics! You are on a downward spiral after this!

Two cheap/natural products i use frequently -

During Moulting - Naturaline - Excellent product although it does make the droppings a bit loose.
After Antibiotic treatment - Sedochol - Flushes the liver.. I've also found it stimulates the falling of down during the race season.

I use Naturaline in the water.Initially for seven days then once or twice a week.very good for the respiratory,digestive and urinary tracts.Also very good for Young birds.

I heard about giving something called "Amino Fuel" made for humans. Does anyone know the doseage?
