hawthorn ,  bloke i know who shoots wood pigeons and vermin on some  of the local farms, { he is also partial to eating wood pigeons } tells me that in the rural areas most wood pigeons eat hawthorn leaves all year round at about 3 monthly intervals ? as he prepares them for the table ,he says that after their session on hawthorn their internal condition smells like soap and is exeptionaly clean and that unlike the ones near the towns , he has never found worms  desease or internal  parasites in any of the rural birds , he also tells me that during elderbery  season their insides are stained a rich purple colour throughout ? ...........planted my new hawthorn bush last week alongside my elder tree !  any more views on herbs out there
