I put garlic on the feed (as I would for myself   ) and it has never reduced their appetite,  has anybody tried putting the ACV on the feed ? I have used lemon juice on feed before, but not tried ACV on the feed, would it have the same effect ?

i once read somewhere that u should never put ur garlic into hot or boiling water, it should be put into cold watwr, it takes something out of it, i always put cut up bulbs in cold water, and as i have said before use it in the bath water it keeps ur birds kleen and is good for their whattles and cleaning their nostrols, it certainly is good for keeping them, clean it is used by gardeners to spray on crops to get rid of greenfly etc,

Totally agree with you, Fifer.

Hi Jason, best to tailor measurements to your own drinkers and prepare it fresh on the day you are going to use it. Also its not something you need or want to do every day, one day for one, and one day for the other is enough.

If your drinkers are 2 litre, on a cider vinegar day its 20ml or two teaspoons of cider vinegar added to the 2ltrs of water. On a garlic day, peel 1/2 a garlic bulb, crush the cloves and add the mash to 2ltr drinking water. Collect your garlic peelings in a jug, add water, and add this to their bath water once per week, will keep them free of lice & mites.

That's a very high dosage. The previous advice for pigeons anyway has been 5ml CAV per 1 litre of water which from experience my birds will drink no bother. This is 5X stronger, will pigeons drink it?

My corn shop has cider vinegar for pigeons at £6.99 for a small bottle. Tesco's has it at £1 for a large bottle! Know which I'll buy.

You're probably right, tho looked at label on my own bottle and its far from clear what it means. Other than sugar 0.4g per 100ml there's nothing else in it and only % shown is :

Acidity 5%

Looked at website but no further explanation of 5% but seems to be all CAV,

Agree with BGF; my 500ml bottle less than £1 from supermarket & kept in fridge since.
