There was a post on here about treating for canker a long time ago and it basically said there were about 8 identified strains with most being harmless and a couple being fatal about 90% of the time to birds that were previously unexposed most birds lived through the lesser strains and these that were later exposed to the more toxic forms were affected less with very few deaths Using this info I quit treating for canker about 3 years ago and have had no visible problems with it,, I do treat my race team about 1/2 way through season but not breeders, bicarb soda alters PH and probably VERY little else ( it is used to alter the PH in swimming pools ) and guess what else I do..... Cider Vinegar which as we all know alters the PH in the blood my guess canker probably has a real low tolerance for ph changes I dont know just my guess
